Literature Analysis #3

In life, every single person’s behavior differs depending on who is in their presence.  This is inevitable, even if just for a subtle difference of thought when encountering members of society in which we associate with and care for their impressions on us.  In the case for some Chinese-Americans, the conflict of being in a pickle between the characteristics of the heritage and the characteristics of their depiction of a normal American in order to fit in can be a strenuous and complex conflict to overcome and deal with.  People in general tend to have two faces that are embedded in their conscience.  The first face, although tends to lurk in the trenches of our soul, defines our true characteristics that have been molded by influential experiences brought upon us throughout our lives.  The second, which tends to be the one worn most often in front of our associates, is a mere façade that we use to convey the people who we interact with that we are our depiction of the most appealing and perfect version of ourselves which is not genuine.   We should strive not to be one of many masks, but one with our genuine faces that we make mold and sculpt into one consistently growing identity so that we are genuine and do not mislead the people who we associate with and most importantly ourselves.
Authenticity is one of the greatest attributes one can possess.  The ability to remain consistently genuine is something that can only be mastered through confidence and being comfortable with whom you are.  In the perspective of a Chinese-American, one of the most difficult tasks possible is to remain possession of your pride and demonstration of your heritage instilled in you by your kin.  Influential outside sources such as American Society, instills in people who appear different that they are aliens and can only be accepted if they change to become less different from them.  A shallow or insecure person would tend to transform their personality to reassemble the people around them, therefore applying their masks.  While others who are stronger and enlightened would rather value who they are even if it means having a low quantity of companions because people who accept people like that, tend to be superior than one’s who shun people who are different than themselves.
Individuals will never be able to be able to approach situations in life in the potentially best way possible when the have to deceive themselves and others in order to create a mental artificial comfort that shuns reality.  Being real with oneself is always necessary in the pursuit of becoming the best version of yourself.  Without confidence and an open mind, one can never accomplish anything of significance in the same quality as if they would if they possessed that mentality.  In the perspective of a Chinese-American, although acceptance might feel satisfying to some degree, they would never be exempted of the grotesque weights of insecurity and low self-esteem and self-confidence because they would only be receiving an artificial experience that is untrue to thine self.
Perspective is everything in life.  It is our reception of things and determines how we interpret and apply them into our own lives to make us intellectually wiser.   Several things can alter the clarity of our outlook such as ignorance and interpersonal conflicts such as the inability to comfortable with who we are and using that to relay a positive and confident outlook on life in order to remain genuine and restrain ourselves from deceiving ourselves which can be proven to be one of the most dangerous yet common blindfolds placed over our eyes by society.

Literature Analysis #2: The Great Gatsby

1) The novel commences when the narrato, Nick Carraway, moves to West Egg district of Long Island.  He visits his cousin Daisy Buchanan and Tom Buchanan.  He learns that his neighbor, Jay Gatsby, is a very rich and liked man who throws parties every Saturday night.  Nick becomes fond of Jordan Baker, Daisy's companion.  Nick is eventually invited to one of Gatsby'sparties and he reveals that he loves Daisy from the past and still has feelings for her.  Nick assists and fascilitates the respark of their relationship and they commence an affair.  Meanwhile, Tom is having an affair with Myrtle, George Wilson's husband who is lifeless.  Gatsby earned all of his fortune through criminal activity.  Myrtle gets ran over by Gatsby's car and Tom tells George that Gatsby did it so he shoots hum to death in his pool and later Nick fascilitates a small funeral for him.

2) The main theme of the novel is that the American dream is dead because all people care about now is money and aristocracy.  The author chose to write about this in order to demonstrate how our society has changed for the worse since aristocracy dictates everything including romance.

3) The protagonist is Gatsby and he is static because his mindset and characterization doesn't change much thriughout the novel.  Nick Carraway is also another major character and he is significant since this is told through his point of view and he fascilitates the rekindling of Daisy's and Gatsby's affections for eachother.

4) The green light at the end of Daisy's dock visable from Gatsby's lawn represents his hope for his future with her.  This is applicable tothe themes of romance and initiative in the novel.

5) The book's reputation and many recomendations from fellow peers aided me in selecting this novel to read and it's unique plot and incredible flow ensured my progression of reading it.

6) Someof my compamions have participated in affairs-like relationships like the one displayed by Gatsby and Daisy and it is interesting to mme how people search for love and disregard the ones whom they are comitted to if they aren't completely satisfied and have a more beneficial propostion.

7) One idea that I will remember for a long time in this book is how people can reach to such great extents to ensure their happiness with someone else in a romantic manner.  This is a risky path but one frequently taken despite the unloyalty demonstrated in doing so.  "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

Antigone Quick Write

The first thing I would plan to do after contemplating my strategic scheme would to demonstrate reverse psychology by appearing to be cooperative and an advocate of the king’s bidding so there is no precautions made by him due to my reaction.  Then I would pay someone, assuming I’m wealthy since I am a relative of the king, to formulate a false alibi with my accomplice as my witness.  I would then set out in the middle of the night with a shovel to the burial sight of my arrogant brother. Then I would dig up the corpse of my less honorable sibling and then trade the corpse’s positions with my favorite brother’s.  Due to their probable genetic phenotype similarities, and also considering the process of decomposition undergoing on both bodies, it would be very difficult to identify any differing qualities of each corpse.  Then I would carefully remove all evidence of the switch and resume normal activity to provide an impossibility of suspicion generated from me to the king’s awareness.  In the instance that the switch was revealed to the king’s attention, then I would suggest suitable orchestrators of the crime that I felt were low and unjust persons that I wouldn’t mind suffering the consequences, and the king wouldn’t doubt their participation due to their history of dishonesty.  Then if necessary, I would present my alibi and the evidence of my absence of the crime scene in a confident assuring manner.

K9 Dine

The consumption of the Canis lupus familiaris is strongly frowned upon in modern American society.  Although dogs are nearly equivalent to most human consumed animals in means nutrition, there is more to the reason why people tend to feel a disturbing sensation at even the slightest mention of this topic.  Supporting examples from the section “Eating Dogs” from the book “Eating Animals” would be applicable to this essay but is impossible and will be unfortunately excluded due to the file under Course Documents being uncooperative and not opening.  The consumption of dogs by humans should not be practiced due to their domestication, their affectionate relationship with man, and the probable extinction of their kind that would undergo if humans began to hunt them down.
A dog’s dependence of humans causes them to be defenseless towards their masters.  This ideology can be accurately demonstrated through the analogy of a toddler and his parents.  The toddler is helpless and depends on his parents for care. Dogs display this in many similar ways.
Dogs are often given the classification of man’s best friend.  This is very accurate and is proven through their constant demonstration of care and love towards their owners.  A dog’s consistence of reciprocation to human affection makes is immoral for dogs to be added to our menu.  Such an intellectually advanced and helpful creature cannot be stabbed in the back by those whom constantly enjoy their company, affection, and duties.
Since dogs are so vulnerable, of abundance in human presence, and dependent on human aid, dogs would face the threat of complete annihilation if not hunted in a controlled manner.  This would remove man’s most common pet from existence and disrupt habitats that used to contain wild dogs.
Dogs should be left off the menu for numerous reasons that would ensure benefits to the human race.  A dog’s dependence and relationship with man is probably one of the most common instances in modern society and altering that would only prove to serve a morally incorrect impact in our world.

BOR Essay

The Absence of Siblings
Does the order or quantity of one’s siblings around someone impact their personality?  Studies have demonstrated through data that this is true.  I am an only child and the data compliments my characteristics that it suggests of an only child like myself.  The characteristics of an only child according to the research done, suggests and corresponds with my scholarliness, preference of interaction with elder persons, and the habit of procrastination.
I demonstrate scholarly attributes and excel in academics.  I have a 4.0 GPA through hard work, great work ethic, effort, a positive attitude, desire, focus, and competitive greatness.  My goal is to be the Valedictorian of my class and I am relentless and perseverant when it comes to accomplishing my goals.
I tend to interact with older people more cohesively than with my peers.  I participate and engage in more intimate and constructive conversations with adults due to their increased level of wisdom.  As a child, I always found myself with the adults in the parlor listening contently to a conversation of current foreign military involvement of our country while the other children played amongst themselves.  I prefer to interact with a selection of people consisting of greater maturity then with my peers.
I unfortunately practice procrastination regularly.  I tend to wait until the last minute before commencing my assignments.  I get lazy and put it off until the due date starts to slowly creep up nearer and nearer until finally shocking me and causing me to perform in a “clutch” fashion.  I have stayed up for excessive amounts of time increments for numerous of occurrences as a result of this.  I know this is something that I need to start working on conquering in order to benefit myself but I have already seen improvements in this aspect just by the acknowledgment of the issue.

I demonstrate scholarliness, interaction tendencies with matured subjects, and the practice of procrastination which all corresponded with the data and research collected by my instructor.  My opinion on this research was very positive and interesting for you get to see how your chronological position in the family impacts your character.  I now see that I am one of the majorities amongst only children that demonstrate likewise characteristics.

Reflections On Week One

1) There are no factors that will affect my participation in this class related to the examples stated in the question.  Although, I feel that the reliance of excessive technological rescourses is at times inconvenient and confusing, especially for the ones who do not have access to the required technological possession.

2) I am an observer, or analyzer if you will. I pick up positives and negatives from everyone or every situation that I encounter and try to apply or avoid duplicating those things in my life.  My eighth grade Algebra Teacher, Mr.  Mason, is one of the more significant impactors in my life since he conducted a very effective learning environment in which I thrived and many of my fellow peers whom have shared this same expierience as I have, also share this class with me as well.  He was effective at relaying information to us ina simple manner and had  routine in which we pretty much followed daily.

3) I am eager about attending this course and have been satisfied so far from what I've witnessed.  I believe that I will prosper in this great learning atmosphere and be able to take what I will have learned and apply them to the next Literature course I will be taking which will be preferably AP English.  I look forward to learning how to improve upon my ability to read quicker while still sustaining reading comprehension and also improving upon my technological capabilities in preperance for the future education system in which we are headed.

My Six Words

I chose to do this vine presentation because it is a metaphorical and creative way to express my determination, relentlessness, drive, and desire to succeed in all goals that I set for myself. I was pondering about a creative way to do this and to effectively succeed in the assignment to recieve my points at the same time and came up with this. I believe I succeeded in that and worked hard on this. I felt that my assignment was unique and really displayed my personality and mentality when it comes to success and attitude of the process.
